Integrated sesmic attributes with facies-depositional enviroment/ petrophysical studies to predict the Oligocene stratigraphic reservoir distribution and properties at Block 09-2/10, Cuu Long basin
Abstract
Besides traditional structural traps, the stratigraphic trap is a new and important target for study in the Vietnam's continental shelf. In order to predict the distribution and the characteristics of hydrocarbon sand bodies in stratigraphic traps in general and in the Oligocene stratigraphic traps at Block 09-2/10 (Cuu Long basin) in particular, seismic attribute analyses can be used in combination with integrated geological-geophysical methods such as tectonics, paleogeography, paleoenvirontment, and biostratigraphy. In this paper, the authors propose to integrate the analyses of seismic attributes such as amplitude attributes (maximum negative amplitude, average amplitude, amplitude variation with offset, etc.) and frequency related attributes (spec decomposition, dominant frequency...) with facies depositional environment studies to predict the Oligocene stratigraphic reservoir distribution and properties in the Cuu Long basin. Case Study: LG stratigraphic trend, Block 09-2/10.
