Determining the impact of ocean current on riser/ conductor system in deep water area
Abstract
When producing oil and gas in deepwater area, the cylindrical structures (such as riser and conductor) are used to protect drilling equipment and avoid vibration due to the impact of ocean currents. In this paper, the authors simulate the impact of ocean currents on cylindrical structures such as riser and conductor and calculate the maximum oscillation amplitude and the oscillation frequency. The simulation results help improve the understanding of the impact of ocean currents on the riser and conductor system in particular and other cylindrical equipment in general, and at the same time solutions are proposed to mitigate risk and impact of ocean currents on the cylindrical structures, contributing to improving the efficiency of production and operation.
