Evaluation of inorganic scale formation during oil and gas production
Abstract
Salt scale deposition causes several problems during the process of oil and gas production such as damage to reservoir and production facilities, especially in oil fields applying water injection. The formation of inorganic scale such as CaCO3, CaSO4, BaSO4, and SrSO4 is caused by the variation of temperature, pressure, and mostly by changes in the chemical equilibrium of the whole system during production.
This paper presents the results of a study on the mechanisms of scale formation and evaluation of inorganic scale in the production system to ensure safe and effi cient operation of the whole system.
