Synthesis of γ-Al2O3 from Tan Binh Al(OH)3 precursor for petrochemical catalyst preparations

Abstract

The synthesis methods of γ-Al2O3 from Al(NO3)3 and Al(OH)3 produced by Tan Binh Chemical Factory as well as the effects of synthesis conditions on γ-Al2O3 characteristics were investigated in this study. The structural and morphological properties of γ-Al2O3 synthesised by different methods were also examined by N2 adsorption, XRD, SEM and TPD-NH3. The result shows that the γ-Al2O3 support acquired from the inexpensive source of Tan Binh Al(OH)3 has high and controllable SBET in the range of 200-300 m2/g as well as the same distribution of pore size as compared to commercial γ-Al2O3 supplied by Merck.
